The program for welcoming and orientation of new batch of Postgraduates 2022-23 was organized on 28th December 2022 to 29th December 2022 in the IEC hall. The program was started with recitation of the Holy Quran by Dr. Mohammad Shafee, Professor, Department of Community Medicine. Welcome address were given to the postgraduates by Dean Dr. Azhar Ahmed Siddiqui and CEO Dr. Ilyas Bemat. They stressed about maintaining discipline in campus and clinical expertise in the hospital. They also asked postgraduates to use proper communication skills with the patients as well as colleagues. They want PGs to not only become good clinicians or surgeons but also good human beings.
First lecture of orientation program was taken by Dr. Mohammad Shafee on ‘Introduction to Research’. Other topics covered were Prescription Writing (Dr. Imran Khan, Professor & Head, Pharmacology), Ethics in Medical Research (Dr. Mohammad Shafee), Study designs by Dr. Vijay Kumar Jadhav, Dr. Heena Kausar, Dr. Abhijit Ingle and Dr. Jawwad Hashmi by faculties of Department of Community Medicine. Dr. Syed Ubaid, Professor & Head, Department of Surgery gave lecture on ‘Conduct of postgraduates in IIMSR’. Statistical aspect of research analysis i.e. Data presentation, sample and sample size estimation and inferential statistics was covered by Dr. N. A. Razvi, Statistician in the Department of Community Medicine.
Delicious lunch was served on both days to faculties and postgraduates. Program ended with positive feedback from postgraduates.
