CISP III Workshop Report
The Curriculum Implementation Support Program (CISP III) Workshop was successfully organized by the Medical Education Unit (MEU), JIIU’s Indian Institute of Medical Science and Research (IIMSR), Warudi, Badnapur, Jalna, on 7th and 8th July 2026 after approval from NMC.
The workshop was conducted under the able leadership of Dr. Azhar Ahmed Siddiqui, Dean, Organizing Chairman with Dr. Lalit P. Une, Professor & Head, Department of Pediatrics and MEU Coordinator, serving as the Organizing Secretary. The workshop was reviewed by Dr. Ganesh Chaudhari, Professor & Head, Department of General Surgery and Co-Convener, NMC Regional Centre, MUHS Nashik, who supervised the conduct of the programme for 2 days.
The workshop commenced with a formal inaugural ceremony, during which the newly renovated Modular CME Hall was inaugurated by Dr. Azhar Ahmed Siddiqui (Dean) in the presence of Dr. Ilyas Bemat (CEO), Dr. Lalit P. Une (MEU Coordinator) and Dr. R. M. Khadri (Hospital Director), faculty members, and participants. The inauguration marked a significant milestone in the institution’s academic development.
The newly established CME Hall has been designed with modern modular infrastructure, advanced audiovisual teaching facilities, and interactive learning resources to support future Medical Education Unit activities, Continuing Medical Education (CME) programmes, Faculty Development Programmes, workshops, seminars, and academic meetings.
A total of 30 faculty members participated in the workshop, comprising 8 Associate Professors and 22 Assistant Professors. The workshop was designed in accordance with the National Medical Commission guidelines and covered all essential components of the CISP III curriculum through a series of interactive lectures, demonstrations, group discussions, reflective exercises, and practical sessions.
The academic programme began with an engaging Ice-breaking Session conducted by Dr. Mohammad Shafee, creating an interactive learning environment and encouraging active participation among the delegates. The subsequent sessions addressed the principles and implementation of Competency-Based Medical Education (CBME), Graduate Medical Education Regulations (GMER) 2019 and the latest regulations, Student-Doctor Method of Clinical Teaching, Electives, Early Clinical Exposure (ECE), AETCOM Modules, Skills Training, Assessment in CBME, Drafting Teaching Schedule and Assessment Plan, Record Maintenance including Log Books and Clinical Case Records, and Curricular Governance.
The sessions delivered by the institutional leadership received special appreciation from the participants.
Dr. Azhar Ahmed Siddiqui, Dean, conducted highly informative sessions on Alignment and Integration and Curricular Governance, highlighting the importance of horizontal and vertical integration in Competency-Based Medical Education and emphasizing effective curriculum planning, governance, quality assurance, and institutional accountability in implementing the NMC curriculum. His sessions were enriched with practical examples and encouraged active interaction among the participants.
Dr. Lalit P. Une, Professor & Head, Department of Pediatrics and MEU Coordinator, delivered comprehensive sessions on Electives and co-facilitated the session on Assessment in CBME. He explained the planning, implementation, and assessment strategies for elective postings and elaborated on competency-based assessment methods, blueprinting, workplace-based assessment, and formative evaluation. His practical approach and emphasis on faculty preparedness were highly appreciated by the delegates.
Dr. Ravindra Bhingare Prof Pediatrics co-facilitated the Skills Training session, which focused on competency acquisition through simulation-based learning, demonstration of clinical skills, structured teaching methods, and objective assessment of procedural competencies. The session emphasized hands-on learning and active faculty involvement in developing psychomotor skills among undergraduate students.
Other resource faculty members, including Dr. Mohammad Shafee, Dr. Imran N. Khan, Dr. Syed Badar Daimi, Dr. Syed Obaid, Dr. Syed Maaz and Dr. Bhushan Vitore, delivered their respective sessions with enthusiasm and expertise. The workshop incorporated interactive discussions, group activities, case-based learning, and participant presentations, making every session highly engaging and relevant to contemporary medical education practices.
Throughout the two-day workshop, punctuality and adherence to the scheduled programme were maintained meticulously. Active participation, enthusiastic involvement, and excellent interaction between the resource faculty and delegates were observed in every session. The participants actively shared their experiences, raised relevant academic queries, and contributed constructively to group discussions, creating a vibrant and collaborative learning environment.
During the review of the workshop, Dr. Ganesh Chaudhari appreciated the excellent organization and smooth conduct of the programme. He specifically commended the organizing team for ensuring that the workshop started on time, maintained punctuality throughout all sessions, and achieved remarkable interaction between faculty members and participants. He appreciated the enthusiasm shown by both the resource faculty and the delegates and congratulated the Medical Education Unit for successfully organizing the workshop in accordance with National Medical Commission guidelines.
At the conclusion of the programme, feedback was collected from all participants. The delegates expressed a high level of satisfaction with the quality of the academic sessions, the relevance of the topics, the practical demonstrations, the interactive teaching methodologies, and the overall organization of the workshop. The newly inaugurated Modular CME Hall and its modern audiovisual facilities were also highly appreciated by the participants, who acknowledged that the upgraded learning environment significantly enhanced the overall educational experience.
The valedictory session concluded with a vote of thanks, acknowledging the valuable guidance and support of Dr. Azhar Ahmed Siddiqui (Dean), Dr. R. M. Khadri (Hospital Director), Dr. Ilyas Bemat (CEO), Dr. Ganesh Chaudhari (NMC Regional Centre Reviewer), Dr. Lalit P. Une (MEU Coordinator), all resource faculty members, organizing committee members, technical staff, and participants for contributing to the success of the programme.
Certificates of participation were distributed to all 30 delegates upon successful completion of the CISP III Workshop.
The workshop concluded on a highly positive note, achieving all its intended objectives and significantly strengthening the participants’ understanding of Competency-Based Medical Education, curriculum implementation, competency-based assessment, and contemporary teaching-learning strategies. The programme further reinforced the institution’s commitment to faculty development, academic excellence, and the effective implementation of National Medical Commission guidelines.
